LVMH (LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE) a French multinational luxury goods conglomerate, headquartered in Paris, France, has sold Donna Karan International to the US clothing firm G-III Apparel Group for $650m.
The Brand was founded in 1984 by American designer Donna Karan and quickly gained popularity. For two decades Donna Karan International focused on women and was defining professional woman’s wardrobe. However, times have changed and women’s shopping habits too - it became too difficult to sustain the brand.
The sale of Donna Karan International is only the second time when LVMH sells an entire fashion label; in 2005 it sold Christian Lacroix.
