New York Fashion Week is slowly coming to an end, following a week’s worth of high-end fashion events, from standout shows like the Givenchy anniversary through to new launches, such as Mansur Gavriel’s shoe line. We’ve handpicked some highlights:

Oscar de la Renta
The Oscar de la Renta show featured a profusion of ruffles, ribbons, lace and flowers for an incredibly feminine collection. Inspired by the carnation, the collection subtly referenced the world of bullfighting which the flower is associated with. For SS16 Peter Copping proved that he is confidently following in the footsteps of Oscar de la Renta.

3.1 Philip Lim
Flowers were also on display at 3.1 Philip Lim, as the label celebrated its 10th anniversary. Balancing interesting shapes with luxury fabrics in blues, yellows and greens, the collection was both relaxed and elegant.

Public School
The Public School duo have been in the limelight recently, having been taken on as the creative directors of fashion label DKNY. For their own label’s SS16 show, they presented a light, relaxed collection featuring long, flowing dresses in a sober palette of blue, mixed with monochrome.

Derek Lam
Derek Lam’s muse for SS16 was Nina Simone. As a consequence, the collection was infused with elements that echoed the seventies without becoming overly dominant: flared sleeves, suedes and bohemian dresses were all reworked and made contemporary. Lam’s SS16 show was a luxury homage to a great singer.

Altuzarra
Broderie anglaise stole the show at Altuzarra, in a collection that explored the designer’s roots, as he explained: "This season began as an exploration of my Basque heritage. I was inspired by the inherent beauty of the materials and crafts of the region, and the ease and humility it exuded.” Altuzarra cleverly combined a rustic, natural aesthetic with high-end fashion, in a collection that encapsulated the warmth and simplicity of summer.
