This week is witness to some important career moves in luxury recruitment as The Business of Fashion reports that Roksanda Ilincic has recruited Carmela Acampora to be CEO of her eponymous label Roksanda.
This appointment is the first time in the label’s history that Roksanda will be headed by a chief executive officer. A graduate of the prestigious fashion school Central St Martins, founder Roksanda Ilincic started out with her label in 2005, under the wing of Topshop’s NewGen project. The designer swiftly went on the make a name for herself for her elegant and colourful designs, something that has also gained her a large celebrity following.

According to the article by The Business of Fashion, this move is part of the label’s growth strategy. Acampora will help strengthen the label and gain exposure on a global level as well as put a strong emphasis on developing the Roksanda e-commerce site. Acampora previously worked at other luxury British brands, as CEO of Aspinal of London and director at Burberry. She will start her new role in January 2015. Talking to the Business of Fashion about the new recruit to her growing team, Roksanda Ilincic commented: “I am delighted to bring on board someone with the vision, energy and expertise to propel the evolution and expansion of the Roksanda brand on a global level.”
It’s certainly been a successful year for the Serbian-born designer. Not only has she just recruited her first CEO, but she also found financial backing from new minority investor Eiesha Bharti Pasricha and opened her first boutique, on Mount Street in Mayfair, in June earlier this year. It’s highly likely we’ll be seeing more of Roksanda in the future.
