Rumours had been flying about on the subject, and it has now been officially confirmed that fashion designer Marco Zanini and his employer, the Schiaparelli couture house, are going separate ways.
Having kickstarted his career working for the likes of Dolce & Gabbana and Versace, Marco Zanini was hired by the Rochas label for five years previous to his appointment at Schiaparelli. Marco Zanini was recruited by Diego Della Valle in 2013, in order to lead the revival of the Schiaparelli house, which had been dormant since 1954. Zanini created two haute couture collections as Creative Director, but recent reports suggest that the relationship between the designer and the luxury label wasn’t the perfect match.
With the designer leaving after only two seasons, and the end of the collaboration being of immediate effect, it leaves room for speculation about who is to be appointed as his replacement.
In a release, officials from Schiaparelli commented: "The House of Schiaparelli is looking towards its future while transcending the aesthetic codes created by Elsa Schiaparelli." The statement goes on to say that the house will soon announce who it intends to employ as new Creative Director.
Marco Zanini has also yet to reveal what job he’ll be taking on next.
