Swarovski has quite a history of collaborating with fashion designers. Already in the early 1900s the crystal brand associated itself with the likes of Elsa Schiaparelli and Chanel. The Swarovski Collective first saw light with Alexander McQueen in the nineties; 15 years on and the brand is celebrating the program’s anniversary with a special Prize.
The 15 designers chosen to form the Swarovski collective will receive support for two full seasons. They will receive financial backing throughout the year and benefit from promotional opportunities, culminating in the Prize for Innovation which has been created specifically for the anniversary.  One of the 15 designers will be awarded 25, 000 euros for an innovative use of Swarovski crystals within their collections. The program will be judged by Swarovski heiress Nadja Swarovski, amongst others.

The designers to have been selected are based across the three fashion capitals of London, Paris and New York and all show at the respective fashion weeks.
Prabal Gurung, Creatures of the Wind, Wes Gordon and Nonoo are the labels to have been picked from New York. London’s selection includes Marques Almeida, Husihan Zhang, Peter Pilotto, Ashley Williams and Mary Katrantzou. Finally Iris van Herpen, Damir Doma, Jay Ahr, Masha Ma and Christian Wijnants represent Paris. Swarovski has previously collaborated with some of these labels through the Collective in the past.
The Swarovski Collective Prize for Innovation is not the first of its kind. Other prizes include ones created by LVMH and Woolmark, all of which seek to recognize and support talent and creativity.
