Travellers with a love for adventure will be able to take a step back in time with a new luxury train which follows the river Danube’s path.
The Golden Eagle Danube Express will connect Hungary’s capital, Budapest with the capital of Iran, Tehran. The train has a 1950s décor, with 13 wood-paneled carriages which are able to welcome up to 70 guests. Accomodation is divided between Deluxe and Heritage sleeping cars, with the Deluxe sleeping cars consisting of ensuite rooms.

It promises to be a two-week adventure during which travellers will be able to discover places in Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey, starting with the cities of Tehran, Shiraz and Persepolis. This makes it the first European private train to be ever allowed into Iran.
The 5-star experience will include meals as well as complimentary alcoholic beverages for the whole the journey apart from first the leg in Iran. Attendants will also be on hand throughout.
The two-week journey will cost travellers between 10,000 and 23,000 euros, with the first journey scheduled to depart on the 15th October. Most places have already been reserved on the first trip, but five more have been programmed in for 2015.
