It’s a well-known fact that we’re sport obsessives. Whether it’s watching the world’s top players battle it out at Wimbledon, in the World Cup or for the Tour de France, or going for a morning jog round the park, sport holds a massive place in our day-to-day lives.
It comes as no surprise then, that an online retail site should decide to focus more closely on sportswear. Net-a-Porter is doing just that by launching a new section, cleverly called Net-a-Sporter, which will offer luxury activewear.
Net-a-Porter was founded in 2000 by Natalie Massenet and has since become one of the go-to online destinations for luxury womenswear brands. Net-a-Sporter marks a new chapter for the website.
Net-a-Porter already stocked activewear labels, such as Adidas by Stella McCartney, but the new section will specialise solely in sports apparel. Offering a broad range of products, the department aims to cater for different activities, from pilates to horse-riding. It also intends to look beyond the usual sports brands towards new, exciting labels such as Ballet Beautiful (pictured), Monreal London or L’Etoile Sport.
The site will kick off with 37 brands, all selected by buyers who know their stuff, such as senior buyer Candice Fragis, who also happens to be a yoga instructor. The products will therefore offer the right balance of functionality with an element of fashion.
Launching on the 9th July, Net-a-Sporter will be filling a gap and helping put style into sport.
